Lovely Lemon Cake

Bright, sweet-tart, and perfectly cheery, this cake has a dense, delicate crumb. Brushed with a fresh lemon lavender syrup when it's right out of the oven, and then iced with simple lemon glaze, this cake keeps for days -- if it lasts that long. Unfortunately, this cake does not ship well.
